Derwen Cripples’ Training College, Workshops c.1934 – taken from Verna Palmer – Oswestry & District : a portrait in old picture postcards published 1989 – caption reads “Following the purchase of the Derwen estate in 1930, the student workshops were transferred from the Orthopaedic Hospital. This postcard, which would have been sold at the college, shows the paint shop, the joinery shop, the splint padding room and the mattress and upholstery shop together with some of the students in 1934. Today catering, horticulture, office skills, painting and decorating are amongst the many courses offered by the Derwen College for their students.
