Floods on the Melverley Road from Oswestry 27 Dec 1924 – taken by H G Finchett of 17 Victoria Road, Oswestry
This picture also appears in Oswestry in Old Photographs compiled by M Bennett, Senior Assistant Librarian published in 1983 and the caption from the book reads “Christmas 1929 was the year the rains came to Shropshire with a vengeance, causing wide spread and severe flooding. When this photograph was taken on December 27th, this road had been flooded for four days, and the car was making very little headway in its journey.
So we have a date discrepancy with the year.
