The Victoria Rooms were built in 1864 but records dating back as far as 1775 show this site was once used as a theatre. The decorative brickwork is typical of the mid Victorian period. Inside there is a large assembly room about 70feet long and 40 feet wide intended for use for concerts, plays, dances and other “respectable” entertainments.
