Roll of Honour

This Roll Of Honour database was compiled from the Border Counties Advertizer Half Penny Special which was produced twice a day at the start of WW1. The records contain details of local soldiers who were either Killed, Died of Wounds (DOW), Wounded, Prisoners of War (POW) or Missing between 19th Aug 1914 and 21st January 1915.

To search the database, enter a christian name or initial and a surname in the 'Search Box', this will display all records containing both names. If the christian name is not known then just enter the surname (WARNING: if this name is common then please expect lots of records). Find the correct record from the details given i.e. Initial, Service Number, if recorded in newspaper, Regiment or Rank and then click on Magnifying Glass to display the newspaper page for that record.
